July Newsletter

Happy summer, everyone!

On behalf of the CAHA board we hope everyone had a fun filled Independence Day! July is somewhat of a quiet month in the local hockey world, so I'll try to keep things on the short side.

Website

You've most likely heard that we have moved over to our new website hosted by Crossbar. We are still in the process of building our site. A lot of content needs to be moved, edited, created, and updated. We went live early so we could open tournament registration. More information will continue to flow onto our new site. Please familiarize yourselves with our new website as this will continue to be our hub of information!

Player registration

Player registration is officially OPEN!

Early Registration ends on 8-15-25 --- Don't hesitate to get this done early!!!!!

You will need to obtain a new USA Hockey number for 25-26 to register with CAHA. Please visit membership.usahockey.com to obtain your new USA Hockey number.

You will then return to our page at cloquethockey.com go to the Programs section and choose the appropriate level for your player. At the top of the page will be the registration for that level.

If you have not used Crossbar in the past, you will need to create a login (I know, one more password to keep track of.) Once you've created your Crossbar login, follow the registration prompts. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Justin Harriman at cloquethockey@hotmail.com

The only things you will be prompted to pay for at this time is the CAHA Raffle tickets. ONCE the season has started your account will be invoiced the amount of the seasons cost depending upon what level your player is at. Also, there will be options to pay in full or online payment plans. One really nice feature of this new season is the ability for you to keep track of your credits and fundraising, by the time invoicing for the season is done, all credits will be assigned to your profile so you can see what your account balance is. This is something we have to add manually so it will take some time, but the goal is to have them on there by the time we invoice for the season.

Social media

You also may have noticed that we have created a new Facebook page. Our last page was over 10 years old and was created as a “person.” Our new page is now an “organization” which allows us to control content a little more appropriately for the audience we’re trying to reach. A huge thank you to Calli Kermend for taking the reins as our new social media guru. If you have any content, you'd like shared, please reach out to Calli. Any suggested content is subject for review before posting.

Noteworthy topic from last board meeting:

We will be reinstating team cleanup nights after girls and boys varsity games next season. Our executive director will be assigning teams and working with team managers to help clean our buildings after games. We feel that the overall cleanliness of our building can use a little help and this is one way we feel we can take strides in creating a more prideful and clean environment. We encourage teams to include ALL families and kids and we would love to see these nights as an opportunity for team building!

Board member spotlight: Mr. Tory Cawcutt

My name is Tory Cawcutt, and I’m currently in my fourth year serving on the Board of the Cloquet Amateur Hockey Association. During my time on the board, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Treasurer and as the Peewee Level Coordinator. Prior to that, I served on the Carlton Youth Hockey Association Board, including two years as President. This fall, I’m excited to step into the role of Bantam Level Coordinator.

My wife, AJ, and I stay busy with our two sons. Our son Owen will be entering his second year at the Bantam level, and Waylan will be starting his second year as a Peewee. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed coaching both boys in hockey and baseball—experiences that have been deeply rewarding.

Professionally, I work as an Investigator for the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office, and this September marks my 20th year in law enforcement. When we’re not at the rink or on the ballfield, our family enjoys spending time together on the water.

Lastly, make sure your kids are stickhandling and shooting pucks on a regular basis! The on-ice success that I previously mentioned is created in the offseason!

I hope you have a great July!

Jeff Leno
